Dora the Explorer: It's Haircut Day! is another collection of four Dora episodes. While the people who choose what episodes go on what disc usually put a theme to the collection, and typically fail with one or two episodes on the disc, this time there is no real theme ... at least not one dealing with haircuts like the DVD's name might imply.

The first episode in the collection is "Dora's Hair-Raising Adventure" where Boots needs a haircut before his mommy's birthday. This adventure takes Dora and Boots across a bridge, through the Hairy Trees and to the barber shop. At the bridge, the pair come across a troll that is also in need of a haircut. In order to cross, they must match poodles that have the same-shaped haircuts. In the forest of Hairy Trees, they meet a giant that has birds living in her hair. When they get them free, they invite the giant to join them at the barber shop.

The second episode, "Happy Birthday, Super Babies" adds a second birthday-related episode to the mix. This time, it's Dora's younger twin siblings and while they wait for the cake, Dora tells them a story where the two Super Babies, Dora and Boots, have to find the bear that is stealing birthday cakes and get them back for all of the parties. They need to go through a bouncy house and through the Pinata Forest in order to get to the bear's house. This episode does a good job of teaching shapes since that is how you navigate through the forest.

In "Baby Winky Goes Home!," Dora and Boots find a baby alien that they have to return to its family, who just happen to be searching for him on top of a certain Devil's Tower looking mountain. Along the way, the trio will go to a farmer's market to buy the baby some food, as well as across a hop scotch bridge where Dora will teach a counting song in Spanish in order to rebuild the bridge. Dora, Boots and Winky will also have to deal with Swiper, who takes Tico's blanket.

The last episode takes Dora into a direction I haven't seen before, outer space. When Dora and Boots are playing with their constellation friend Pegaso (Pegasus), a meteor shower happens and scares away all of Pegaso's constellation friends, a bear, a lion and a whale, who all run away. Now the trio will look for the bear at a black hole, the lion in Saturn's rings and the whale at the Milky Way. That last one involves counting to twelve in order to follow stars to the whale's location.

While Dora the Explorer: It's Haircut Day! doesn't try and force itself into any one theme, that seems fine since it has two pairs of episodes that seem to do that anyway (birthday's and space), and once again the collection has a good set of lessons to teach the young ones, so any kid who loves Dora should enjoy watching these particular episodes over and over again.
