I do love the Goosebumps series, so I'm always happy to see more sets of episodes released. The new set, Goosebumps: Attack of the Mutant has three episodes, a two-part one called "Attack of the Mutant" and an episode called "Phantom of the Auditorium."

In "Attack of the Mutant," Skipper (Dan Warry Smith) is addicted to comic books. His father is extremely upset over this, but his mother says that it's only a comic book. She couldn't be more wrong though when the characters start coming to life from the pages. When Skipper misses his bus stop because he's talking to a new girl in his class, Libby (Melissa Bathory), he has to take the next one. In an old parking lot, he finds a villain's headquarters have suddenly appeared exactly as they are in the comic. He goes back the next day, but it is gone. He gets a comic in the mail that afternoon that says that the building is now being hidden by an invisibility curtain. He's determined to find out what is going on, so he goes back to the now empty lot and runs into Libby there. Together they step through the invisibility curtain and things get even more weird.

In the headquarters, they go exploring and things start to go wrong quickly. First, the elevator goes up instead of down. Then the elevator won't take them back up to where they came in from, so they're trapped and must find another way out. Quickly, they are separated and now Skipper is going to have to find Libby. Things get even more odd when Skipper finds a drawing board and he is one of the characters. Libby startles him about that time and when he goes to show her the drawings, they're all gone. They find their way out though and go on home as if nothing happened. When he gets home, Skipper starts to see things differently. He thinks that he's just going crazy. When he gets a new comic in the mail where he is a character, Skipper freaks out because it tells him that he has to save the hero of the comic. Can Skipper figure out what is going on and save things in time?

The final story on this set is "Phantom of the Auditorium." Brooke Rogers (Jessica Moyes) has earned the part of Esmeralda in their school play "The Phantom." Tina (Julie Annis) tells the whole cast that she didn't want the lead because the play is cursed. The first year the school was built, the drama club then was also doing "The Phantom," but the lead actor playing the phantom disappeared just before the play. This time Zeke Mathews (Shawn Potter) has been chosen to play the phantom. Corey (Philip Eddolls) is slated to play Esmeralda's father. Ms. Walker (Kathryn Greenwood) is the drama coach in charge of these kids. Brooke is a bit nervous about the role as she is having nightmares and seeing things. Of course, that doesn't stop her from exploring a trap door with Corey that he found. Once down there, they're lost but finally get back up via the trap door. The next day, there is a new kid at school, Brian (Stuart Stone), who wants to help with the play immediately. Not long after, strange things start to happen and Esmeralda is warned to stay away or else! They all blame Zeke as the signs point to him, but was it really him? Can this cast survive "The Phantom?"

Once again, Goosebumps is quite entertaining. While "Attack of the Mutant" was probably one of my least favorite episodes yet, "Phantom of the Auditorium" was one of my more favorite ones, so it balanced out. If you're looking for slightly scary fun geared for kids, check out Goosebumps: Attack of the Mutant today!
