Over the past few years, the more recent series of the Star Trek line have been coming out on DVD. Well, the series that started it all has started coming out in full season collections like its predecessors. "To boldly go where no man has gone before." It is this line that started a 35+ year license that continues to thrive to this day. Star Trek The Original Series: Season 1 takes the first 25 episodes and puts them together on DVD for the first time ever. This box set contains everything from the USS Enterprise and her crew's first encounter with the Romulans, to their first trip in time. This collection brings it all together, including the two part episode featuring the original captain, Captain Christopher Pike, in "The Menagerie," though it is lacking a copy of the original un-edited pilot itself. As an added bonus, each episode is also accompanied with the original trailer.

Each of the featurettes provides insight into the making of the original Star Trek, as well as looks at later series. These features also include discussions on everyone's favorite vulcan, Spock (Leonard Nimoy), as well as a look into William Shatner's (Captain Kirk) love of horses on his ranch.

Star Trek The Original Series: Season 1, whose box resembles the classic tricorder, will look good on any Trekkie's movie rack. Look for the other two seasons of Star Trek The Original Series to come out throughout 2004.
