The rockumentary features interviews by original members Keith Morris, Greg Hetson, and Keith "Lucky" Lehrer, as well as Henry Rollins, Lisa Fancher, later guitarists Zander Schloss and Earl Liberty (AKA) Mark Vidal, as they discuss the origin of the band, it's name, and everything from Keith's substance abuse and rotting health to the violent ousting of Earl from the band, along with clips of vintage performances at several clubs and concerts. Circle Jerks: My Life As A Jerk is educational to anyone interested in the Western sound of American punk rock, as well as the band itself, as you get a glimpse of the early mosh pit era that led to Los Angeles being one of the main players in the 80's and 90's alternative scene. It is also good to have as a reference in case you're looking for some trivia to stump your rock friends -- considering very few people today know about the Jerks and their material, even though this highly controversial band encapsulated the image, sound, and energy of California Hardcore Punk in 1979, and was considered one of the most influential bands in American underground. As a good collector's item to have, it's recommended for alternative rock fans only.
