I’ve reviewed the DVD version of Adventure Time: The Complete First Season already (see the link below), so I won’t go too much in depth about the episodes and feel of this season.

If you want the short summary of what this whole Adventure Time thing is about, I could throw around words like wacky, sick, deranged, irreverent, and twisted. Adventure Time centers around Finn and his buddy Jake who travel across the land of Ooo and go on adventures, but also do a lot of singing, dancing, and partying along the way. Swords, zombies, princesses, magic, and wizards are sprinkled in . But to really get a feel for what Adventure Time is about, you’ve got to watch an episode - not just a preview, but the whole episode. The best comparison I can make for this show is Ren and Stimpy, the old 90’s cartoon.

"Adventure Time Music with Casey + Tim" seems to be the only real extra you get on the Blu-Ray version. It’s one extra video you’ll find under featurettes. Other than that, the Blu-ray release is nearly identical to its DVD counterpart, except for the fact that it only uses one disc compared to the 2 for the DVD release. Of course, you get a much sharper, high resolution video that comes along with Blu-Ray as well, which makes this all the more enjoyable. Also, each individual episode has an option to turn commentary on or off, without making you back out through the menus and hunt for the commentary option. It’s a little touch, but it’s nice.

From the title it’s pretty clear, but let me just emphasize that this is the complete, unbroken set of episodes from the first season of Adventure Time. There’s no sampling of episodes from all over the series, it’s all the First Season, in order, as it should be. It’s much better looking on Blu-ray, so if you’ve already picked up the DVD version, this version still has that little bit extra to make it worthwhile. As for special features, however, there's not much more in that department if that's what you're looking for before you make the purchase.
