The Tudors), is certainly no different, but this man just might be something Cara hasn’t encountered before. On their first meeting, he presents himself as David, a mild-mannered and quiet young man, but then the phone in the room rings and the caller on the other end, Cara’s dad, asks to speak with Adam. After a frightening transformation, Adam appears and he’s a gruff, rude beast of a man. Cara dismisses it as a simple case at first, but then this man’s varying personalities begin to emerge and each seems to be that of a murder victim from some time in the past. Cara is unable to rectify this with her knowledge of science, so perhaps something more mysterious and other-worldly is to blame. Unlike her father and her daughter, Cara still clings to her faith in God, even though her husband was the victim of murder a year before. As she digs deeper into the unsolved murders of the people presenting themselves as Adam’s personalities, those closest to her seem to be falling victim to something… As Cara races to unravel the truth, will she lose more than she gains in her desperate quest for answers?
6 Souls is a frightening but intriguing thriller. I really enjoyed it and watching Jonathan Rhys Meyers as he transforms between personalities was truly unsettling. At first, I was put off by his overdone Southern accent as David, but as he continued to morph into different people, I was really impressed by his acting. If you watch 6 Souls and just take it for what it is, a chilling movie meant to disturb you, you’ll enjoy it. If you think too hard about the how and why of the plot, you won’t enjoy it nearly as much. I found myself questioning things after watching it and it’s just better to enjoy it for what it is – a scary flick that will freak you out a bit.
