Eddie, feeling lost without the maternal tenderness of his mother, is constantly searching for a wife for his father and a replacement mother for himself. His eagerness finds Eddie arranging meetings for his father that creates some awkward situations. Mix in Norman and Tina with their problem-solving skills, and Mrs. Livingston rendering peace and balance "Japanese style," and you have a fun-loving show that gives sensible solutions to family problems of the late 1960s.

Even though it is set in the late 1960s, the styles have changed, but some family situations remain the same, and this series offers laughs, solutions, understanding, and love. Bill Bixby was known as a "nice guy," and you can count on this series being compassionate and having tasteful life-lessons for children and parents.
