So here we are, some three months after last season's shocking finale that left Nikita (Maggie Q) on the run for assassinating the President of the United States, although she is completely innocent. Instead of banding together with her team, she instead leaves them to go it alone in order to protect them. Naturally, fiancé Michael (Shane West) is deeply hurt, but even with Nikita on the run, the group works on her behalf without her realizing it.
Nikita is drawn out when she arranges a surprise meet with a dogged reporter who is searching for the truth, and Nikita hopes he may be able to hear her side of the story. She soon realizes that Amanda (Melinda Clarke) and "The Shop" have their talons in much deeper than she ever feared. As Ryan Fletcher (Noah Bean) keeps working on his "wall of crazy," as the rest of the group refers to it, he is playing out different scenarios and conspiracies, but the truth is more frightening than any of them ever realized. Meanwhile, Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) continues in her fight against human trafficking, all the while searching for links back to Amanda. Seymour Birkhoff AKA "Nerd" (Aaron Stanford) has a pretty pivotal episode where he reveals some shocking background information on himself that no one on the team has ever known. It's cool and heartwarming at the same time. Sam/Owen (Devon Sawa) steps back into the picture, on the hunt for some serious cash, but also desperate to repay Amanda in kind for the stolen years of his life. Alex doesn't know whether he can be trusted or not, but their list of friends is very short these days.
Meanwhile, Amanda has teamed up with a powerful group with their tendrils all throughout key government positions and big corporations. Nikita and the group devise a bold move to draw out the truth and it could end with either Nikita's exoneration or her destruction. Suffice it to say that these six episodes pack a real punch, with an incredible storyline that will keep you biting your nails down to the very end.
Much of this season takes place in and around the bustling streets of India and Pakistan and the cities veritably burst with color and sound on Blu-ray. Even though the end of the show was nigh, the season still has plenty of intense action, beautiful locations, and a shocking storyline to hold it all together.
I am truly disappointed that there were no special features, because I have loved these characters and watched them grow through the last four years. It would have been terrific to hear some behind the scenes stories or their thoughts on the show's ending, but alas, it probably wasn't profitable enough, since the show was cancelled (which was, funnily enough, the name of the final episode and also the term Division used to terminate an agent). I will say I loved the way the show ended. It tightly wrapped everything up and I am pleased with how everything played out, even with the short amount of time they had to accomplish it. Well done, McG and company. I hope to see these actors very soon in other shows, because they are all terrific and a blast to watch.
