Film Movement presents the life and work of England's finest internationally acclaimed author, photographer, and artist David Hockney in their biographical release Hockney that focuses on the artist's career between residences in England and California. Hockney is a master of creativity that is displayed throughout his vocation as it looms larger and larger in his monumental canvases depicting colorful landscapes, pool scenes, California residential interiors, and friendships. Hockney's 90-year career still excites and expands in this modern age as he has taken Art into the digital realm in his computer images.

The documentary Hockney follows the artist's career from his home in Yorkshire, England, to his move to the United States where he resides in Los Angeles, California. Very soon, he makes influential friends and settles into the bohemian life of the 6'0s that he portrays in his paintings. David is a mild-mannered man, gentle in his ways, soft in his talk, but opinionated and not shy about his sexuality - especially male nudity, which is prevalent as he artistically pervades social barriers.

Hockney's impressive exhibitions take him to the heights of exaltation by appearing in the Tate Museum in 2017, including works from the 60's, photography in the 80's, Yorkshire landscapes, and latest works from California, as well as his latest writing publications. His exhibit at the Royal Academy of the Arts in London in 2012 presented his East Yorkshire landscapes displaying his iPad drawings and films. However, the documentary Hockney leans more to his life and relationships, rather than his exhibits and shows the sensitivity of an artist who plays with the ideas of illusion and reality, the protocols of perspective, toys with the conventions of picture-making, and portrays his interest in human relationships, landscapes, places, and situations real and imaginary.

The Bonus Feature of Hockney is a Commentary by Director Randall Wright who gives broader knowledge of the film and artist. This film has adult content and parents should be cautioned of its nature.

David Hockney is considered one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century, and any collector should consider Hockney as an asset to their art collection. This Hockney documentary will give you an opportunity to better know and understand the man and his genius through his art.
