There's no question Die Hard, starring Bruce Willis, changed the face of action movies when it came out in the late 80s. Before then, action heroes consisted of guys who just shot up the bad guy. Willis, who plays John McClane, shoots up the bad guys AND makes us laugh. Ultimately, you knew there would be a sequel that wasn't as good as the first. Enter Die Hard 2: Die Harder. Finally, complete the series with a follow-up movie that rights the wrongs of the second film. That's where Die Hard With a Vengeance comes in. Ultimately, this is a boxed set all action fans should own. The Die Hard Trilogy will provide countless hours of action-packed movie goodness.

If you haven't already seen Die Hard, you need to just for the sake of normalcy. If you have seen it, but don't own it, you need to get the Die Hard Trilogy. If you have seen it, and you own the trilogy, why are you reading this review? Each movie has two DVDs, with the second disc containing a plethora of extra goodies. For instance, for the first Die Hard, there are Deleted Scenes, a Gag Reel... you can even edit your favorite scenes from the movie together so you can watch them over and over again.

However, there?s not nearly the amount of stuff included for the second movie as there was for the first. But like I eluded to earlier, Die Hard 2 wasn?t nearly as good as the original, so you probably won?t be itching to see all of the ?Making-Of? stuff for Die Harder as you would for Die Hard. The movie is a decent follow-up, but it doesn?t have the ?zing? to it like the original Die Hard. I think this is partly because of the changing of the directors. John McTiernan directed the first one, while Renny Harlin did the second. I can?t put my finger on it, but the second one had a completely different tone from the first.

Die Hard With a Vengeance offers up things like an alternate ending and plenty of featurettes, but that?s about it as well. They do go behind the scenes, but there's nothing that really stands out like deleted scenes or a way to edit your favorite scenes together like the first flick did. Still, the third film is a very good way to end the trilogy because it follows the same mold of the original. I?m pretty sure it?s because John McTiernan came back to finish the series off.

In the end, there?s a very simple reason why you need to buy the Die Hard Trilogy: Bruce Willis + explosions = DVD goodness. So take my advice: get the Die Hard Trilogy, it?s worth every penny.
