Fast forward to their first day of high school as seniors. Charlie, ever the science genius, has almost completed a time traveling machine and shares his creation with Virgil. They decide to enlist Zeke, the strong, silent and sort of scary loner at the school, who happens to be an ace mechanic, to help them complete the machine. When a trip back in time to buy a lotto ticket backfires, they decide to do something altruistic with their abilities - help other nerds buy jumping in to save them right at the moment some cool kid was going to embarrass them. And thus the Minutemen are born.
But as they help these nerds, things change and the nerds start to get bad attitudes. Their messing with time travel catches the attention of the FBI and all of a sudden its not fun and games anymore. Soon they discover that all of their time traveling has caused a black hole to develop on the football field and they can only save the world by going back one final time to reverse things. (I know it's not a perfect scenario, but just go with it.)
There is also a side-story running throughout the movie about Virgil's silent love for Stephanie, although she is with Derek, the jerk. When Derek finds out about the time traveling trio, he begs his former buddy to make it so Stephanie never saw him kissing another girl. Does Virgil help his former friend or does he leave things be since Stephanie is gravitating towards him? The plot thickens!
This movie has some really funny moments and overall is just a fun time. It has a good ending and the only grating part is a dorky kid named Chester (Dexter Darden) who is a cheesy version of Urkel. It's not really heavy on special features, but there is a music video and a making-of featurette, plus a new, extended ending. If you are looking for a funny, clean kid's movie to keep your tweens occupied, this one will fit the bill.
