The 2-disc set features 18 adventures staring Green Lantern, Atom, Flash, Hawkman and the Teen Titans (sans Robin). Compared to most modern animation, the series doesn't hold up incredibly well, though there are a few standouts. In particular, the Green Lantern shorts are pretty good, but unless you have fond memories of the series, most of your enjoyment will come from their campy nature. There are, of course, a few visual things that can be taken out of context, though I really enjoyed the radio show-type presentation. Even though you can see everything that happens, there's still an announcer to give you the play-by-play. Then there's the owl-launching cannon and radioactive ant...
The only "forgettable" episodes are the ones staring Hawkman, which is appropriate since he is also the subject of one of the DVD's biggest goofs. Rather than featuring Hawkman in the title and menu screen, he is replaced with Birdman (as in Harvey). I'm not sure how this happened, but it fits with the episodes' comedic feel, so you just have to have a laugh.
For me, the best part of the collection is the 40-minute feature on Lou Scheimer, Filmation Studios' founder. The feature goes over his entire career and is recommended for anyone who is interested in animation.
Though a great piece of animation history, DC Superheroes doesn't hold up that well, so it is hard to make a general recommendation. Instead, the series is better suited for people with fond memories of the series or younger kids who haven't yet succumbed to more hyperactive cartoons.
