Needless to say, when Joe and Helen return from their honeymoon, things are not as good as they had hoped. Now Joe and Helen have to move into Brian's place, and throughout the season they work to have their house re-built. They do everything from deciding on a pre-fabricated structure, to having a local famous architect do the job, but when his design is too unusual, even he is out of the picture. They will also seek the employ of an architect who seems perfect to them; he is cheap, efficient and does a good job, but when his marriage starts to fail, Helen and Joe's bad luck raises its ugly head again.
While their attempts to get out of Brian's place is a common thread throughout the season, there are still plenty of other events that go on. For instance, Antonio (Tony Shalhoub) gets over Casey, and falls back into dating Edna ("The Big Faced Girl"). Eventually Antonio meets another girl who is perfect for him, but when he doesn't get her name during their brief "magical moment", he runs around the island looking for anyone who might know her.
On a sad note, Lowell (Thomas Haden Church) leaves the show (Church goes on to a different series titled "Ned and Stacey") when he enters into Witness Protection after promising to testify in a mob trial. His role as mechanic is filled by Budd (Brian Haley), an ex-Air Force mechanic with a self-esteem problem. Personally, I feel that Lowell was a much better mechanic, but Budd does an adequate job of filling his red cap.
This season also has Casey's husband (played by John Ritter) showing back up, but claiming that all their money is lost. But when she finds out that he was lying to her, she goes a little overboard. Casey also takes on the job as the island's tourist advisor as she tries to find new ways to get people to Nantucket during the slow season. Her attempts include a bad and very long slogan and even trying to form a sister city. Unfortunately for her, all of these plans go south.
Fay (Rebecca Schull) and Roy (David Schramm) continue their roles as secondary characters that really help to add a lot of flavor to the airport. In this season, Fay decides to get married a fourth time, but when she finds out his real first name is George (the name of her three dead husbands), she gets cold feet. In Season Seven, Roy throws his twelfth birthday party (mind you he was born on February 29th), but when Helen runs into Roy's gay son and invites him to the party, Roy feels his birthday is ruined. Especially since R.J. brings along his boyfriend.
Wings: The Complete Seventh Season does a pretty good job setting up the series' final season - not only does the season finale have quite a bit of irony in it, but events in this season remind viewers of a few details (like the briefcase Brian and Joe's father left them) that will help to wrap up the series.
While this DVD set doesn't contain any special features, it is still good for people who enjoyed Wings while it was on. This isn't the season to jump into since several characters return for single episodes (the crazy Sandy, Helen's ex-fiance Davis Lynch and Gilbert Gottfried as Lewis), and they rely whole on your previous knowledge of the show, but if you've been following it so far, then definitely grab Season Seven as well.
