Samantha Who? has Christina Applegate as Samantha Newly, a girl who gets hit by a car only to fall into a coma. When she awakens, she finds she has amnesia. As Sam starts to discover the person she once was, she really doesn't like what she sees. So Good Sam sets out to make amends for all the things Bad Sam has done, discovering bits and pieces of who she was along the way. It seems she's nothing like her parents, Regina (Jean Smart) and Howard (Kevin Dunn), simple but wacky folks trying hard to patch up their relationship with their glitzy daughter who has been incommunicado for some two years. Her on again/off again boyfriend, Todd (Barry Watson, 7th Heaven) is a sweet and pleasant photographer, one she cheated on throughout their relationship. Her best friend, Andrea (Jennifer Esposito) is a selfish, partying drunk and a lawyer, just like Sam. Together, they used to rule the clubs, but now she spends equal time with her best friend from grade school, Dena (Melissa McCarthy), who certainly doesn't fit Andrea's image as a good friend for Sam, being that she is goofy and overweight. But Dena is a true friend who stuck by her while she was in her coma and stands by her now that she is awake. Finally, there's Frank (Tim Russ), the doorman at her apartment. He is so deadpan and the banter between Frank and Sam is priceless.

As Sam determines who she was, the road is paved with many humorous moments. There's Sam discovering that she was once a stalker. There's Sam, the tyrant at work who has an assistant so petrified of her that she will eat cake on command, although she is a diabetic. There's the time Sam got her dad to trust her enough to let her take his car for a spin, only to wreck it and push it into a lake, letting him instead believe it was stolen. But hey, like mother like daughter. Huh? Watch and see.

As Todd moves on and finds love with a new girlfriend, Chloe, things become awkward because Sam discovers that the apartment she and Todd previously shared is actually owned by her, although she has moved back home with her parents. When Todd wants Chloe to move in with him, Sam realizes maybe she's lost him forever... until her apartment manager insists she's subletting the place out and Sam must move in with the couple. Comedy ensues.

There are so many funny moments in Samantha Who? and the cast works together perfectly. This cast immediately gelled with each other and it shines through in their performances. I have really liked Christina Applegate since she outgrew her role as Kelly Bundy, in comedies like The Sweetest Thing, but she is absolutely hysterical in Samantha Who?. Her comedic timing is impeccable and she is fantastic in this role, supported perfectly by those around her. In the way of Special Features, there's an audio commentary, some bloopers and some deleted scenes, which are fun to watch. If you like comedies, then definitely give this one a try. You won't be disappointed.
