Guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back...

Hey kids, remember the TurboGrafx-16? What about the TurboExpress? Don't worry, many don't. Time to once again pull out the William's Almanac and delve into the farthest reaches of video game history. Before the SNES and Genesis, the premiere consoles of the 16-bit era, there was a little system called the TurboGrafx-16. This system was, in many ways, the real trail-blazer of 16-bit era and featured games such as Bonk, Shinobi, and Military Madness. Although those were all great games, the system was also home to Castlevania: Rhondo of Blood, which was, in my opinion, the best Castlevania game outside of Symphony of the Night. Well, for whatever reason, the system never quite caught on in popularity and soon ended up in the hall of failed systems. The same also went for the TurboExpress, which was the first 16-bit handheld system.

In the wake of both systems' failures to catch on as 'THE' system to have, NEC's name slowly faded out of existence. Well, starting in February, NEC returns to the gaming world with the futuristic racer Tube Slider for the GameCube. Although the game is currently exclusive to the system, NEC also plans on making games for the PS2, Xbox, and GameBoy Advance. Stay tuned as we'll keep you posted.
