PSN Weekly: Beta Edition
Company: SCEA
Product: PSN Updates
This week's update doesn't feature any new PSN games, though it does come with a chance to get in on two of the PS3's hottest beta tests, Resistance 2 and PlayStation Home.

Similar to the SOCOM: Confrontation beta, which will begin in September, players who pick up this week's issue of the digital magazine Qore will receive a spot in the upcoming Resistance 2 Online Beta. Subscribers ($24.99 Annual Subscription) will receive "Premiere" status, granting them early access to the online beta. Players who only download this month's issue, Episode 03, will also receive access but at a later date.

In addition to the beta invite, this month's issue features DC Super Heroes, artwork, mini-games and a few other surprises.

For a chance to participate in the PlayStation Home Beta, you'll need to head over to the Themes section and download the PlayStation Home theme. Unlike the Resistance 2 beta, downloading the Home theme does not guarantee you'll get into the beta, but it's better than filling out a bunch of forms online, isn't it?

Two additional wallpapers, one for Tomb Raider: Underworld and another for Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice, are also free to download.

Madden fans can get ready for Madden 09 with three videos: The E3 Trailer, a 20th Anniversary Video covering the series' history and one detailing the new Adaptability feature. Extreme sports fans can also get their fix with a series of AST Dew Tour videos featuring Greg Lutzka, James Foster and Mike Spinner.

Just to make sure non-sports fans aren't left with something to get excited about, a trailer for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Tomb Raider: Underworld are also up for download, as well as "Dead Space Dev Dairy #5: Creating Horror" and Issue #4 of the Dead Space Animated Comic. If you haven't been following the diaries or comic, I highly recommend both -- especially if you're interested in Dead Space.

A list of additional in-game content is available below, along with this week's Guitar Hero III and Rock Band songs.
