PSN Weekly: Booty Unleashed Edition
Company: SCEA
Product: PSN Update 8/21/08
This week's PSN update is one of the system's biggest, most highly anticipated updates since launch. Okay, so really, it's just a big one for me personally, but still there's a lot of good stuff up for grabs.

On the downloadable games front, this week's big addition is Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty ($14.99). The stand-alone downloadable game is set one year after Tools of Destruction and follows Ratchet on his quest to find the most valuable treasure in the universe - Clank!

Last week's release of Madden NFL 09 can only mean one thing, Fantasy Football season is right around the corner. For those with hopes of hoisting that highly-coveted fantasy trophy in the air (or just don't feel like keeping track of scores yourself), EA is giving you an easy way to keep track of everything with EA Sports Live Score Tracker ($0.99).

This week's trio of demos is all about power and leadership. If Fantasy Football isn't enough for you, a demo of NFL Head Coach 09 gives players the opportunity to make all the decisions of a real NFL Coach. You can create plays, scout and sign players and make all the critical calls to build a championship team. Or, you could also lead the last group of survivors of the zombie apocalypse with The Last Guy. Of course, if you're not a team player but still have a taste for power, you can get a taste of what it's like to kick ass with the Force with the long-awaited Star Wars: The Force Unleashed demo.

We all know that Kratos can kick ass on the battlefield, but ever wondered what the guy is like on the golf course? Wonder no more as the God of War is now available as a downloadable character for Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds. While he may not be able to walk on water like Tiger, at least you know he has a mean slice and it'll only cost you $1.99.

Domination isn't just coming to the golf course, but to Haze as well with the free Domination Pack. In addition to four brand new maps, the pack also includes a totally new team game mode - Capture and Hold.

Apparently last week's lack of Guitar Hero III songs was something of a cool down period allowing time for players to build up their dexterity before tackling this week's Dragonforce Track Pack ($6.25). The pack includes three songs from the group: "Heroes of Time", "Revolution Deathsquad" and "Operation Ground and Pound".

There are no packs available for Rock Band this week, though you'll still get five new songs:

  • "Through Being Cool" - Devo ($1.99)
  • "Girl U Want" - Devo ($1.99)
  • "Rio" - Duran Duran ($1.99)
  • "Girls on Film" - Duran Duran
  • "Get Your Rock On" 1 The Janitors ($0.99

This week's trailers include looks at two upcoming modes for PAIN, "Clown Toss" and "Hot n' Cold", and two new Madden NFL 09 feature videos. Fans of Brothers in Arms can also get a sneak peak behind the scenes with two making of features.
