The 2nd Annual Rock Band Competition: Now with More Ringo!

Company: Harmonix
Product: Rock Band

MTV Games, Harmonix, and Harrah's Entertainment announced today the 2nd Annual Rock Band battle of the bands competition called Total Rock Total Rewards. Rock Band bands will battle it out in a 20 city competition that will end in Atlantic City where the winner earns $10,000 and gets to meet a Beatle in person, Ringo Starr. The guys at Harmonix will also be in attendance for certain stops and will be giving out cool swag, like Green Day: Rock Band.

The tour seems to go all over the country, but they are all held in one of Harrah Entertainment's venues. (So 18 and older only.) Here is the full tour list for those interested where any band can make an attempt for a high score:
  • The Blarney Stone, San Diego, CA
  • Fahrenheit Ultra Lounge and Restaurant, San Jose, CA
  • Busby's East, Los Angeles, CA
  • Govnr's Park Tavern, Denver, CO
  • Rock and Roll Hotel, Washington, DC
  • Transit Lounge, Miami, Fl
  • The Dam Bar, Buford, GA
  • The Underground, Rockit Ranch, Chicago, IL
  • Harrah's Joliet, Stage 151 Joliet, Ill
  • Paddy O's, Boston, MA
  • Mountain Bar at Bally's, Atlantic City, NJ
  • Harvey's Lake Tahoe Cabo Wabo, Stateline, NV
  • Bill's Casino, Bill's Lounge, Las Vegas, NV
  • Alibi Lounge, New York, NY
  • Outland on Liberty, Columbus, OH
  • Caesars Windsor, Windsor, ON
  • The Boardwalk Complex Downtown, Erie, PA
  • Dallas Woody's, Dallas, TX
  • The Waterwheel Lounge, Seattle, WA

The nearest one around here is Dallas, TX. That's a long drive for a shot at fame. Last year's winner of the Total Rock Total Rewards contest, The Gurn Killers, got to open for the B-52's as part of their winnings, so this is definitely a great opportunity for aspiring bands out there.

Although, I am a little uneasy at the idea of fake bands opening for real bands. It seems crass, but with a few million people playing Rock Band, I'm sure there are a few people that don't mind.
