Finally Explore Middle Earth for Free!

Company: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
Product: Lord of the Rings Online

To all the MMO players of the world, if you haven't played Lord of the Rings Online yet, you will not have any excuse after September 10th.

Warner Bros. Interactive and Turbine Studios have announced their plans to take the popular fantasy MMO into the free-to-play business model. Going free-to play means anyone can download a full version of Lord of the Rings Online and play up to level 50. Of course, there will be perks, gear, abilities, and other useful items that can be purchased (for real money) through the Turbine store.

Players that are already comfortable paying for a subscription can bypass many of the store features and become a "VIP" which grants many of the bonus items like expansions and character slots right away.

If you are still on the fence, and might be in the Seattle area for PAX Prime, you can check out Turbine's demo of Lord of the Rings Online for yourself at their booth during the show.

So, to recap: Lord of the Rings Online will be free starting September 10th. You can play until level 50 in Middle Earth. Subscription fees will still be honored. And you can play it at PAX Prime if you are still curious. Now, go questing!
