When August 31 rolls around, Xbox Live members and PlayStation Network users in North America will finally understand why I've been high on Sega's Vanquish since E3. Sega will release a demo of the adrenaline-soaked futuristic third person cover shooter from game design luminary Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil). You'll get a chance to don Sam Gideon's Augmented Reaction suit and experience the game's stylish combat system.

Vanquish's demo, titled "Velocity Attack," allows players to choose between two difficulty settings and tear through a section of the gargantuan space station. If you've read anything about the game, you know that the antagonist is an emboldened Russian Empire. The Vanquish demo is only hitting North America on August 31, but if you're one of our Aussie or European friends, you need not fret. Europe will get the demo a day later, and Australia will follow on September 2. Vanquish is set for a North American release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 19, with Australian and European launches following shortly thereafter.
