Find Wii and PS3 Units Nearby...
Company: FindNearBy.Net

Looking for a PS3 or Wii, but unable to find one in your area? We've recently heard of two sites that might help you locate the coveted PS3 and Wii systems that have taken off with 3 million users in only 60 days. FindNearBy.Net has a PS3 site and a Wii site that each search inventory listings from sites like eBay, Craigslist and local stores, and then plot the results on a color-coded map with detailed information (see screen shot below). Consumers no longer have to search endlessly on multiple sites.

Here’s how the service works: Shoppers visit the PS3 or Wii specific FindNearBy.Net site and the site automatically identifies the approximate location of the shopper and tells him or her where to find the item(s) locally. The sites aggregate information about available items from numerous different sites, including eBay, Amazon, Craig’s List, Best Buy, Target and more. In addition to locating the items, the sites feature tips and rumors about the upcoming availability of sought-after products within a shopper’s region.

The FindNearBy.Net websites seem to make good use of Google maps, placing markers over the different locations of possible console locations and linking these markers to abbreviated descriptions (including an image if available) of the items. The sites seem easy enough to use and definitely worth a look if you're trying to find a console locally.

Based on the ridiculous popularity of the Nintendo DS system, I hope they introduce a DS.FindNearBy.Net soon.
