Excuse me... while I kiss my DS

Company: Ubisoft Entertainment
Product: JAM: Sessions

Now "Stairway to Heaven" isn't reserved for those with actual guitar-playing talent. You too can take on the guitar classics without those pesky lessons and bleeding fingers. With JAM, you use the DS's touch screen to strum the licks on your next love ballad, or folk song - your choice really.

The version I played was geared towards the sound of an acoustic guitar. Sorry, no Vai or Satriani. You assign up to eight notes with the directional pad, and you can shift up to eight additional notes using the left trigger. You can use the DS as a mobile score sheet, where you can write and save your next #1 hit. There are extensive tutorials, so don't feel like an amateur if you haven't touched a guitar or music. Finally you can play and sing along with some of your favorite hits on the go. I don't know about you, but someone singing to their DS in public is gonna get some looks.

I hope to see them expand this into other instruments. I could easily see drums as a logical next instrument. OK, so I really want them to make me one. I can imagine sampling with the built-in mic for loops and sounds. I would also totally pay to go see an entire symphony played by DS's. We will bring you more when we get our hands on an actual version.
