Jane's Attack Squadron: Jane's -- Only the name sounds girly.

Probably one of my favorite parts of US History would have to be the World War II era. Maybe it's the stories my grandparents told me, or just a little of my dad's interest rubbing off on me, but I've always been fascinated with the 'Great War'. So, for me, combining WWII and games just seems like a winner. Given the rich history that goes along with the war, there's a game found somewhere for every taste, whether your interests lean towards gunning down SS Officers, planning wide-scale military campaigns, or storming the beach on D-Day. Of course, my favorite WWII games will always be the flight simulators. There's just something about out-dog fighting a Japanese Zero that brings a smile to my face.

Now, thanks to Xicat Interactive, players everywhere will get a chance to share in that fun with Jane's Attack Squadron. While at first the name sounds like it may be some sort of radical, feminist commando team - it's really the next installment of the successful Jane's flight series. In this installment, would-be flyboys will be able to pilot 14 accurately modeled planes in a wide range of WWII missions in the Western European Theater (which includes Western France, Germany, and parts of the European coast).

Attack Squadron will feature highly detailed environments as well as the one of the deepest damage systems to date, resulting in planes that are completely damageable with parts that will fall off. Bullet holes will also show up wherever a bullet hits, insuring that battle damage will never look the same way twice.

Attack Squadron will offer both single and campaign missions (such as strategic bomb runs, patrol, and intercept missions) along with 8-player LAN or TCI/IP multiplayer support.

Look for Jane's Attack Squadron later this year from Xicat.
