ESRB: Everyone
Publisher: Activision
Developer: Vicarious Visions
Media: Cart/1
Players: 1
Genre: Miscellaneous

Graphics & Sound:

Well, it is Spider-Man. That name carries a lot of weight. Unfortunately, this game does not do the name justice. It doesn't look very good at all. As a matter of fact, it reminds me of a bad Tiger hand held game. There is no detail, hardly any color, and it has absolutely nothing in the way of eye candy. Actually, the only redeeming quality of the game is the sound. The sound is not too bad. It's one of the few things that are good in this game

Gameplay:

Well, it's a side-scrolling game. You can jump, punch, climb, crouch, and of course, shoot a web. The object of the game is to . I guess it's to kill the bad guys. Don't worry, you will know who the bad guys are. They all look exactly the same. You really don't even have to kill the bad guys; just pass them up, and they are no longer a threat to you. Along the way, you can collect power ups. As you progress through the game, you get experience points and you go up in level. I'm not sure what affect this has on the game, but I'm sure it's nice. All in all, I would have to classify this game under the 'not fun' directory.

Difficulty:

Nothing to it. With only two buttons, and a 2D side-scrolling interface, Spider-Man is easy to play. It is also pretty easy to beat. And if you lose, don't worry. There are plenty of continues. Overall, the game is too easy.

Game Mechanics:

The one good thing about the game is fluid movement and simple mechanics. The game is easy to play due to the fluid scrolling and the responsive, simple controls. Each button does one thing - no tricky combos, no hidden moves. What you see is what you get with Spider-Man. Unfortunately, you don't see or get too much.
