Graphics & Sound:

Well, in all honesty, the graphics were a bit childish. They just looked . kiddish. It's hard to explain. There was a total lack of detail, the color scheme was something awful, and the sound was annoying. Other than that, it was great (not much left to be great, huh). Now, considering that it is a Game Boy, I have to defer to the graphics being acceptable. They were not good, but for Game Boy, they were okay. You could see you, your opponent, and your respective health bars. That's really all you need for this one. Some of the animations are nice, but that's about all.

Gameplay:

Well, WCW Mayhem is a wrestling game. No surprise that you wrestle in the game. The game includes 12 WCW superstar wrestlers. There are three modes of play for this one: Quest for the Best, One-Player, and Two-Player. In Quest for the Best, you bring your chosen wrestler through the ladder in a 'career mode.' In One-Player mode, it's a single fight, you against the computer. For Two-Player . well, you can figure that one out for yourself (you need a link cable). Using the Options menu, you can turn weapons on and off, toggle the time limit option, and adjust the music and sound effects. And yes boys and girls, you can fight backstage.

But, is the game fun? Not really. It runs well, but it really doesn't have much of an attention grasping quality. I guess it's your typical 2D fighter. To its credit, the finishing moves were easy to perform, and the grapples and 'everyday' moves weren't too difficult either.

Difficulty:

WCW Mayhem is very easy to play and almost as easy to beat. The controls are simple, and the AI is not very I. If you are looking for an easy to play fighter, this is your guy. If you want a challenge . play it in the dark.

Game Mechanics:

Simple D-pad 3 button system (A, B, and START). The game runs very smoothly and scrolls surprisingly well. The moves are pretty easy and non-ambiguous. The controls are fairly responsive and the 'grapple' moves happen fast. The graphics are poor, the game is not really all that fun (it's not boring either), it's too easy, but the mechanics are great. 1.5 out of 3 ain't bad (it ain't good either). I didn't con anyone into linking up with me, but I bet it's not too bad.
