Graphics & Sound:

Although I hated the graphics in MS Combat Flight Simulator, I thought the graphics for Tuskegee Fighters were good. I loved the use of color and the beautifully rendered backgrounds. Although the improvements were as easy as blurring the jagged pixel edges, it does improve the overall look. It is not often that the graphics for an add-on exceed the graphics of the original, but for this one it does. I have played other add-ons from the same company; however, I found that the graphics were actually better in this one than any of the others that I have played. I don't know why that is, but Tuskegee Fighters benefits from it.

Gameplay:

Well, the game handles the exact same way as the original. In fact, the only thing that the game does offer is a few new planes and twenty new missions. And these missions, they're not even special. It just seems like the same missions as before, just in different locations with new planes. As a matter of fact, this add-on adds almost nothing in the way of gameplay. What Tuskegee Fighters offers is a few new planes, a few more missions and a great graphics overhaul. My overall impression of it - I wasn't.

Difficulty:

I found that the missions started out at hard and progressed to near impossible. I thought that the game was too hard. It wasn't hard to play (once you learn how), but it was hard to complete. I wouldn't say that the gameplay was difficult; it was the overall content that was impossible.

Game Mechanics:

I thought the game handled about the same as the original. I felt that the controls were responsive, with a logical layout. The Tuskegee fighter planes handle a little rougher than the others, but it didn't run too choppy. It wasn't smooth, but it didn't crawl either. I almost don't see the point of this add-on; it doesn't add much gameplay at all. What it does offer is a great graphical change and a few additions to keep you busy for a few moments. Not overly fun, but if you have to fly in one of the targeted planes (PT-17, AT-6, P-40L, P-47, or the P-51), I guess Tuskegee Fighters is for you.
