Disney’s That’s So Raven 2: Supernatural Style

Score: 76%
ESRB: Everyone
Publisher: Disney Interactive
Developer: Disney Interactive
Media: Cartridge/1
Players: 1
Genre: Platformer (2D)

Graphics & Sound:

Based on the popular children’s show “That’s So Raven,” Disney’s That’s So Raven 2: Supernatural Style is a standard 2D platformer that targets itself exclusively to fans of the TV show.

That’s So Raven 2 draws its art from a bright pallet and makes reasonably good use of the Game Boy Advance’s power. The teen girl’s target audience, both the show and game, should be adequately enamored with the typical teenage stage locales such as school, malls, and the zoo. A huge plus for this target audience will be the ability to change Raven’s wardrobe and see those changes appear on screen. The audio in the game tailors to the same pop-culture sounds from the TV show.

Gameplay:

Your typical 2D standards are at play here; collect the items and get to the exit. Players will take control of Raven as she runs, jumps, rolls, and throws pies to achieve her ends. Her main adversaries consist of other students and security guards as she attempts to amass as much money and fashion accessories as a single girl can hold. Along the way, you can also stumble across new outfits and new colors for your existing wardrobe. While the game itself is fairly polished and has few outright problems, it also contributes nothing new to the genre and really only serves to entertain fans, which isn’t a bad thing.

Difficulty:

Given the game’s target audience, one wouldn’t expect a mind-numbing challenge to be present in Disney's That’s So Raven 2: Supernatural Style, and you would be correct. Only the younger gamers will find a significant challenge waiting for them.

Game Mechanics:

You run, you jump, you throw pies. Disney Interactive keeps things fairly straightforward, but does throw some unique Raven-esque twists. Pressing the L button, for example, utilizes various costumes. You can also use the money you earn in the game at the Raven store, where you can buy things like character bios.

Disney’s That’s So Raven 2: Supernatural Style is a presentable little 2D platformer that will entertain and amuse fans of the show, though it will engage few others.
