Kim Possible 3: Team Possible

Score: 90%
ESRB: Everyone
Publisher: Disney Interactive
Developer: Disney Interactive
Media: Cartridge/1
Players: 1 - 2
Genre: Action/ Platformer/ Themed

Graphics & Sound:

That teenage cheerleading Jane-of-all-trades Kim Possible has returned to the Game Boy Advance. Kim Possible 3: Team Possible not only once again gives you control of the peppy hero, but also her sidekick (Ron Stoppable), and of course, the naked mole-rat, Rufus.

The graphical style of the previous two games comes through yet again. The scenery and levels are full of details and could easily come from the TV series. The characters are large and easily recognizable, even the smaller pink rodent.

The audio is just like the visuals, straight from the series. Sound effects like the Kimmunicator going off and Rufus’ grunts are just a few examples of these recognizable notes. Kim’s theme song is also found throughout the game helping to pull you into the setting that much more.

Gameplay:

In Kim Possible 3: Team Possible, Nana’s house has been broken into and the vile thieves have stolen... her photo albums. Yes that’s right, a bunch of family photos. Now Ron and Kim will go around the world (with the help of Global Justice’s transport tube system) taking down Kim’s biggest foes and collecting all of the pictures.

Kim Possible 3 has six long levels, and when I say long, I mean levels so long that they need six or seven save points scattered throughout the scenes. Each level ends with a boss battle that has you facing baddies like Monkeyfist, Dr. Drakken, Senior Senior Junior, and Shego.

And what would a Kim Possible game be without the show’s trademark gadgets? You will use Kim’s grappling hook, boomerang comb, Ron’s rocket shoes, and of course his naked mole-rat pal, Rufus. As you progress through the game, you will find your gadgets lying around.

Team Possible also features a multiplayer mode for the first time in a Kim Possible title. This mode lets you and a buddy play as both characters simultaneously instead of forcing one player to switch between each character over and over again.

Difficulty:

Kim Possible 3: Team Possible is fairly straightforward. You typically won’t have any problems running through the levels. Because the levels are so long, however, it doesn’t feel like you are just blazing through the game. The only real tough parts are when you confront the bosses like Monkeyfist or Shego. Then it’s a bit of a challenge.

Game Mechanics:

Kim Possible 3: Team Possible sports all the basic controls and mechanics of your standard action-platformer. The only real difference comes when you need to switch between and use the different characters. In order to flip between Kim and Ron, simply tap the Select button and the camera will zip across the level to wherever the waiting team member is.

The fact that your character doesn’t just switch models adds to the teamwork aspect of Team Possible. For example, you may need to use Ron’s rocket boots or Kim’s grappling hook to get to an area that the other character can’t reach to activate a switch that allows both of them to pass.

The other main control feature is the use and selection of your characters’ gadgets. You use the left shoulder button to activate your selected gadget, while holding down the right shoulder button lets you select which gadget you want to use.

Any fan of the TV series or the game line will be glad to add Kim Possible 3: Team Possible to their GBA collection. It has everything that the previous games had, plus enough extras to make it a new title and not just a rehash of the old system.
