Graphics & Sound:

Graphics in Reel Deal Slots Adventure! are fairly well done, for what the game is - a slots game with an adventure twist. There are different themes for the various games you'll engage in and the slot machines themselves look good. You might have an oil drilling theme or a circus theme and the little windows have detailed drawings in them that are appealing.

As far as sound goes, the music is pretty annoying and I was asked to turn it down while I was playing. Enough said. The sound effects, while appropriate for each themed level, got a little repetitious as well. Basically, for a slots game, things looked and sounded like they should, almost as though you were in a casino, but then again, I guess that's the point. Casinos sound loud and annoying as well.

Gameplay:

Reel Deal Slots Adventure! is an odd game. Phantom EFX tried to mesh a slots game with an adventure and it really just isn't a good or necessary fit. You will go through your "adventure" by getting tidbits of pointless storyline and each spot you travel to on the map delineates a level of the game. You are given challenges to do and you can choose to accept them or to not play them at all. Doing well in the challenges nets you some play money, but since there's not much you can do with the money other than accrue it, it's kind of pointless.

Once you get into the game, you'll be challenged to make a certain amount of money per level or to pop so many balloons in a particular challenge by doing well in the slots game, things like that. Once you complete your goal, you'll move on to the next area.

As far as playig the slots games themselves, you start off with some money and your goal is to increase your bankroll. You do this by winning at the slots by lucking into lining up matching pictures. Pretty basic. You can opt to select which lines you want to play (straight across, diagonal, etc.) to optimize your chances of winning. I placed the maximum bet with the maximum lines each time and most times, I won something. Once I tried to cash out during a challenge so I could hold on to that money, but doing so would have ended the challenge and I certainly didn't want to do it again, so I didn't cash out. This game consists of continuously clicking on the mouse to work the slots and it just felt pointless. Are you sensing a theme? Even with the "adventure" plotline thrown in, I wasn't driven to see what happened because it really didn't matter one way or another since you can go back later and play any of the games you encounter. They even throw in little mini-games like working a bar and filling up beers, but they aren't much fun either.

Difficulty:

Umm, there's not a huge level of difficulty here because all you are doing is clicking a button and by chance, maybe winning some dough. Sure, in the mini-games you may need a little more clicking skill with your timing, but not really. Honestly, the gameplay here is mindless and there's no real level of challenge. What is difficult is playing through another round of Reel Deal Slots Adventure!.

Game Mechanics:

Once again, Reel Deal Slots Adventure! is very simplistic in its controls. You click the mouse on the button to activate the slots. You click to select your number of lines or your bet. You click to hurry the machine along while it is tallying your winnings. You click to play the mini-games. That's all you do, pretty much.

I am really not sure who this game is targeting because there's no real thrill in playing the slots if you aren't really winning anything. I can't see casino patrons booting this game up in lieu of going to their local casinos. I can't really see anyone seeking this game out. Like I said earlier, it looks fairly good for a slots game, but it's just a pointless game and it's really not any fun. I know time went into making this game and it's clear they were trying to make an optimal slots game, I just don't see a big need for a slots game and I didn't enjoy it. If you are a diehard slots lover and don't want to go to a smoke-filled casino and spend your real money, maybe this is the game for you. It just didn't do it for me.
