Lefutray: Last Breath

Lefutray is a Chilean metal band whose name means "fast sound." After listening to the album, I can see why they chose that name. These guys are intense. If you look through the liner, you can tell that just from the pictures. Their music is meant to convey a message. Their look, their lyrics, and their sound all serves to make their point as loudly and forcefully as they can. With Cristian Olivares and Leonardo Garitua on guitars, Christian Bravo on bass, Yonattan Munoz on drums, and Juan Vejar singing, these guys are going to tell you all about the evils of giant, soulless corporations and the inherent agony of life.

Lefutray's album Last Breath starts with an instrumental called "Intro," which has a very classic metal feel. It is probably the slowest song on the album, but leads right into "Agreement of Suffering," which is a very heavy song. The lyrics are a bit hard to understand, which is true of the whole album, but you can read them all in the liner and once you know what he’s saying, it is much easier to understand. "Immersed" is up next. It starts off a bit slower and then picks up as it goes, which I really like. It’s almost like it is easing you into the song. With a sound this heavy, sometimes you need a bit of easing to get into it. "263" does the same thing. It starts with a slow guitar solo that crescendos into a solid, heavy beat about a minute into the song. "Ain’t Part of It" has a very staccato sound in the chorus where the words are matched to the beat. It’s a bit difficult to describe the sound, but I like the result. It just seems to fit with the lyrics quite well.

"I Feed Your Eyes" start off immediately with vocals, which is a bit different from the rest of the songs on the album which open with guitar solos. It also has a more consistent sound throughout the song than the rest of the album. I like the variation, as it shows off a wider range of style. In "Hunter," a lot of the guitar riffs remind me of Iced Earth’s "Violate." Normally, I wouldn’t compare the bands as overall, Lefutray is heavier, but those two songs have a similar quality.

Last Breath is Lefutray’s debut album and I’d say they’re off to a pretty good start. They are very musically talented and show the strength of their skills in their music. If you’re looking for an extremely heavy metal sound, then you should check out Lefutray’s debut album Last Breath.
