Head First HTML and CSS, 2nd Edition

Publisher: O'Reilly

If you’ve ever wanted to dive into web programming, but didn’t know where to start, then Head First HTML and CSS, 2nd Edition may be the perfect read for you. The style and clarity that this 700+ page book delivers is one that I have not seen before when talking about technical terms and reasoning.

Oh, and if that first bit about 700 pages scares you, do not fret as the book contains a great deal of graphics and images that do a wondrous job of helping to explain the technicalities of coding a web page, and also make the read a lot easier. In fact, I truly believe that someone interested in coding and designing their own pages, yet has no previous experience, can pick up Head First HTML and CSS, 2nd Edition and immediately feel comfortable enough to gain the confidence needed to publish their first pages online.

This book actually takes a nonchalant approach to delivering its content that turns what could easily become mundane technical terms into fun, bite-sized pieces of entertainment. In addition, Head First HTML and CSS, 2nd Edition doesn’t just deliver the how, but also the why when it comes to creating pages. While other books also go with this approach, I have yet to see a book cover everything from start to finish in a way that won’t make your head spin.

So who is this book for? Well, there is an explanation within the first few pages, but in short… everyone. Coming into this with knowledge of HTML stemming back to the mid-nineties, but not yet familiar with the ins and outs of CSS, I found Head First HTML and CSS, 2nd Edition to deliver its content perfectly for both newbies looking for a structured starting point, and for developers looking for a quick reference or refresher.

Beginning with the basics and ramping up to CSS and HTML5, Head First HTML and CSS, 2nd Edition may not cover every single possible bit of code available, but I am confident that it approaches 99 percent and will give you more than enough information on how to create professionally-coded websites. No matter which browser guests use to visit your site (including mobile), you have the resources to give them a great experience.

To recap, Head First HTML and CSS, 2nd Edition is one of the best books that I have read when it comes to technical and computer-related documentation. This book can benefit anyone interested in catching up with the improvements made to how the Internet delivers content. One can also gain the knowledge needed in coding pages for ease of updates, as well as making them viewable on different browsers and devices. Kudos goes to the authors on their delivery methods and the content within.
