The planet is dying and it's up to Nevin, a reluctant hero with the power to alter space and morph, to figure out what is going on. Using his Polysuit, Nevin is able to transform himself into three unique and helpful forms. In his original melee form, Nevin is able to move quickly and attack enemies with his sword. When the sword simply isn't enough, there's the gun form. Although slow, this is his most powerful attack form. For those situations where stealth is needed, Nevin can switch to his stealthy 'gecko-mode' and stick to walls and move around undetected.

Hands down, this was my favorite game in the THQ booth as well as a contender for my game of show. Even in it's early form, the game was a blast to play. I really loved the innovative combo system. After engaging an enemy in battle, Nevin can enter a 'combo' mode. By pressing the face buttons, you can build up how many hits the combo is made up of by building a pattern. Pressing X causes the pattern to go down, O left and so on. As long as you don't cross a part of the pattern you've made, the combo continues. When I first tried, the best I could do was a three or five hit combo, but after a little practicing (and some coaching by a helpful THQ staff member) I was able to pull off combos in the 10+ range.

Alter Echo should ship for the PS2 and Xbox sometime next year.
